In 1910, Boris Shatz, the founder of the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts wrote that “for me, art became a temple and artists its priests.” At once, Shatz had illuminated the sacred status he conferred on the work of art and the sacrilege embodied in that status. Conflict between the sacred and the secular characterizes many trends from the early days of local art to the present, and is expressed in works, polemics and turbulent and diverse attitudes. The lecture will present a number of sources for discussion from the first half of the 20th century, followed by works from the second half of the century to the present that offer an intriguing and challenging approach to the subject.
Yonatan Amir is an art critic, lecturer and co-editor of the online art magazine Erev Rav. Over the years, Amir has published reviews and articles in a variety of newspapers, magazines and catalogs, co-authored and edited the book Muslala— The First 5 Years (Erev Rav Publishers, 2018), and is among the founders and organizers of the annual Jerusalem Conference on Art held as part of the Manofim Contemporary Art Festival. Amir teaches courses on the history of Israeli art, art theory and criticism at the School of Multidisciplinary Art at Shenkar, the Pardes School for the Visual Arts and the Curatorial Program at the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies. He has a B.A. from the Department of Art at Bezalel, an M.A. in cultural studies from the Hebrew University, and is currently writing his doctoral dissertation in the Department of Art History at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. |

يوناتان أمير ، ناقد فني ومحاضر ومحرر مشارك للمجلة الفنية الإلكترونية "عيرف راف". على مر السنين ، نشر أمير مقالات نقدية ومقالات فنية في مجموعة متنوعة من الصحف والمجلات والكتالوجات، وشارك في تأليف وتحرير كتاب "موصلالا - السنوات الخمس الأولى" (منشورات عيرف راف، 2018) ، وتأسيس وإقامة مؤتمر القدس للفنون الذي يقام كل عام في إطار مهرجان "منوفيم" للفنون.. يقوم أمير بتدريس دورات في تاريخ الفن الإسرائيلي، ونظريات الفن والكتابة عن الفن في مدرسة شنكار للفنون متعددة التخصصات، ومدرسة بارديس الدينية العليا، وبرنامج القيمين في معهد شيختر للدراسات اليهودية. حاصل على اللقب الأول من قسم الفنون في بتسلئيل ، اللقب الثاني في الدراسات الثقافية من الجامعة العبرية ، ويعمل حاليًا على كتابة الدكتوراه في قسم تاريخ الفن في جامعة بن-جوريون في النقب.1 |
בשנת 1910 כתב מייסד בצלאל בוריס ש״ץ כי ״האמנות היתה לי למקדש, והאמנים לכוהניו״. בכך האיר ש״ץ הן את המעמד המקודש שהעניק ליצירת האמנות, והן את חילול הקודש שמגולם במעמד זה. עימות בין קדושה לחול מאפיין מגמות רבות מראשית ימי האמנות המקומית עד ימינו, ומתבטא ביצירות, פולמוסים ועמדות סוערות ומגוונות. ההרצאה תציג מספר מקורות לדיון מהמחצית הראשונה של המאה ה-20, ולאחר מכן תעבור להצגת יצירות מהמחצית השנייה של המאה עד ימינו, שמציעות התמודדות מסקרנת ומאתגרת עם הנושא.1
יונתן אמיר, מבקר אמנות, מרצה ועורך-שותף של כתב העת המקוון לאמנות ״ערב רב״. לאורך השנים פרסם אמיר ביקורות אמנות ומאמרים במגוון עיתונים, כתבי עת וקטלוגים, היה שותף לכתיבה ועריכת הספר ״מוסללה – 5 השנים הראשונות״ (הוצאת ערב רב, 2018), וליסודו ועריכתו של כנס ירושלים לאמנות, המתקיים מדי שנה במסגרת פסטיבל ״מנופים״ לאמנות. אמיר מלמד קורסים בתולדות האמנות הישראלית, תיאוריות של אמנות וכתיבה על אמנות בביה״ס לאמנות רב-תחומית בשנקר, בביה״ס הדתי הגבוה לאמנות פרדס ובתוכנית לאוצרות במכון שכטר למדעי היהדות. הוא בעל תואר ראשון מהמחלקה לאמנות בבצלאל, תואר שני בלימודי תרבות מהאוניברסיטה העברית, ובימים אלה הוא כותב דוקטורט בחוג לתולדות האמנות באוניברסיטת ב״ג בנגב.1 |
