Marcelle Bitton
מרסל ביטון נולדה במונטריאול, קנדה. היא סיימה בהצטיינות לימודי אמנות באקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב בצלאל (2019), תואר נוסף באנגלית (2014) וכן לימודי כתיבה וקולנוע. ביטון פועלת במגוון רחב של מדיומים כגון מיצב, וידאו, רישום, תלת מימד, כתיבה ויזמות חברתית. היא עוסקת לרוב בשאלות של זוהר וערך, הקשורות למשחקי מגדר, ייחוס ושייכות - דרך מנהגים ומיתוסים דתיים, קאנונים של יופי, יוקרה וקריטריונים היררכיים בתוך מערכות פוליטיות וחברתיות-תרבותיות.1

مرسيل بيتون وُلدت في مونتريال، كندا. أنهت دراستها في الأكاديمية بيتسلئيل للفنون والتصميم بامتياز عام 2019، وتحمل أيضًا شهادة في اللغة الإنجليزية (2014)، بالإضافة إلى دراسات في الكتابة والسينما. تعمل بيتون في طيف واسع من الوسائط، مثل التّركيب (الإنסטליישן)، الفيديو، الرسم، الثلاثي الأبعاد، الكتابة، وريادة المشاريع الاجتماعية.
تركّز أعمالها غالبًا على أسئلة تتعلق بالبريق والقيمة، في سياقات تتقاطع مع قضايا الجندر، النَسب، والانتماء – وذلك من خلال الطقوس والأساطير الدينية، ومنظومات الجمال والترف والمعايير الهرمية ضمن أنظمة سياسية وثقافية-اجتماعية.
“أنا أدور حول مسألة تجسيد الشخصية – الدخول في شخصية وارتداؤها كفعل يختبر الفرق بين التمثيل الفني والحياة نفسها. ومن هناك، أتساءل حول هامش الحرية والتعبير داخل شبكة القوى المتجسدة في هذه العلاقات، التي تعمل على الاستيلاء وإعادة كتابة التقاليد، وتحولات الهويّات.”
عرضت بيتون أعمالها في معارض ومهرجانات داخل البلاد وخارجها، ونالت منحًا وجوائز تقدير على أعمالها.
تركّز أعمالها غالبًا على أسئلة تتعلق بالبريق والقيمة، في سياقات تتقاطع مع قضايا الجندر، النَسب، والانتماء – وذلك من خلال الطقوس والأساطير الدينية، ومنظومات الجمال والترف والمعايير الهرمية ضمن أنظمة سياسية وثقافية-اجتماعية.

Marcelle Bitton was born in Montreal, Canada. She graduated with honors from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (2019), holds an additional degree in English Literature (2014), and also pursued studies in writing and cinema.
Bitton works across a wide range of media, including installation, video, drawing, 3D, writing, and social entrepreneurship.
Her work often explores questions of glamour and value, tied to issues of gender performance, attribution, and belonging- through religious customs and myths, canons of beauty, luxury, and hierarchical criteria within political and sociocultural systems.
“I revolve around the question of character embodiment- entering and wearing a character as an act that challenges the boundary between artistic representation and life itself. From there, I question the margins of freedom and expression within the power dynamics embodied in these relationships, which act to appropriate and rewrite traditions and cycles of identity.”
